A pair of sunset platys had been purchased in September 2017, One of the sunset platys died soon afterwards while the second one survived.
However in december 2017, the second sunset platy was also found floating at the top of the water in the fish bowl due to unknown reasons
After some time, the fish had disappeared and the water will have to be cleaned.
The sunset platy was kept with goldfish, which continue to survive
So clearly platys, especially sunset platys are not very tough fish, suitable for living in fish bowl,as they die quickly

It is observed that the price of fish greatly varies from store to store. In some stores, they are keeping the price of the fish almost the same for a year or more, in other stores, the price of the fish varies weekly depending on the stock of fish available.
Most of the smaller fish sellers are keeping the price of their fish like goldfish, tetras, clownfish, angel fish almost the same at Rs 50 a pair. However larger pet stores, which are mainly selling dog food, are charging more money and their prices will vary.
For example a month ago, the price of platys at a store was Rs 50 a pair, and now the prices of the platys increased to Rs 80 a pair. So it is advisable to purchase the fish when they are cheap
Compared to goldfish, betta fighter fish, platy fish, neon tetra fish do not live for long in a fish bowl.
The orange platy fish are costing Rs 50 a pair in most of the aquarium shops in panaji. Some of the aquarium shops do not have stock of platy fish as they are getting the fish from suppliers outside goa. There are relatively few breeders of ornamental fish in goa .
4 orange fish had been purchased and within a few weeks all the platyfish were found dead on the same date. Any information on the cause of the death of the platyfish will be greatly appreciated.
Research on keeping fish at home continues.

Goldfish are popular pet fish because they can be trained like other pets. For example when the pet owner will enter the room, the gold fish in the bowl are immediately detecting that the pet owner has come to the room, and are frantically asking for food . This is in contrast to other types of fish like Koi, Fighter Betta Fish which are largely passive and do not react when there is any movement or noise in the room where the fish bowl is located
The goldfish are also easy to keep fish as they as they remain alive for a relatively long period of time without much maintenance or care, in contrast to other fish like Koi, Guppies which are dying quite quickly
So though expensive at Rs 150 a pair, gold fish are highly recommended as pet fish
